The definitive continuation of Reynolds’s monumental catalogue raisonné of John Constable, covering the years 1817–1836. Volume I (Text) (324 pages) provides full scholarly descriptions and critical commentary; Volume II (Plates) (unpaginated) illustrates over 1,000 works, including some 250 in colour and a total of 1,086 reproductions, tracing Constable’s evolution from mature landscape painter to national figure.
Remains the standard reference on the artist’s later period. Condition: Volume II dust-wrapper with a 3.5-inch closed tear to the bottom left corner of the rear panel.
