Change in the Farm by Thomas Hennell (1934)

Hardback. First edition.  ‘In every farmyard, outhouse and contingent building throughout the country are to be seen – piled-up relics of past generations of farmers – the remains of old ploughs, waggons and implements crumbling away behind the new steam-thresher and brightly-painted iron rakes and harrows’. Hennell’s first book and a ‘record of rural industry in the days when farming was an art and the craftsman had not yet been ousted by the machine.’ Illustrated by the artist.  Condition: dust-wrapper tape repaired, age tanned and  marked. Green cloth boards slight foxed and dust-marked. Endpapers toned, otherwise very good.
