Clare’s prints are made by cutting an image into a block of lino, wood, vinyl or cardboard to create a relief surface. Ink is applied to the block and then printed onto paper using a handpress. The use of special papers and hand burnishing creates subtle textures and differences in each print.
After gaining an honors degree in Illustration and Printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, Clare Curtis moved to London and worked as an Illustrator. In 1997 she returned to Suffolk to begin printmaking again and currently works and teaches from her studio in Felixstowe.
