Hardback. First edition.  ‘In every farmyard, outhouse and contingent building throughout the country are to be seen – piled-up relics of past generations of farmers – the remains of old ploughs, waggons and implements crumbling away behind the new steam-thresher and brightly-painted iron rakes and harrows’. Hennell’s first book and a ‘record of rural industry in the days when farming was an art and the craftsman had not yet been ousted by the machine.’ Illustrated by the artist. SIGNED and dedicated by Hennell to front end-paper: To N.B.Bagenal, with all good wishes from T. Hennell Feb 7th 1934. Condition: Green cloth boards a little edge-worn, marked and darkened. Dust-jacket lightly worn and marked. Some slight foxing. Endpapers toned, otherwise very good.
