“The basic idea which this exhibition has been designed to illustrate is that there has been, during the period since the last war, something which might be called a ‘School of London’, in a sense which recalls the Ecole de Paris of the 1920s and 30s’s” – A formative usage of the term later popularized by R.B. Kitaj to describe a group of postwar figurative painters in London. Kitaj is represented in this exhibition by two works. Other artists include Stefan Knapp, Henry Inlander, Klaus Frideberger, Avinash Chandra. Condition: Some light spotting to covers, otherwise very good.
