Often pigeon-holed as a surrealist, Eileen Agar (1899-1991) was in fact a highly original and independent imaginitive artist. Working within the tradition of English romantic painting, she made a unique contribution to the art of her times. She was interested in making shapes and visual metaphors, and believed art ought to be playful.
This book draws upon her paintings that are full of imaginative playfulness, behind which is a strong will, wit, and a steady search for elegant form.

In excellent condition.
