Eileen Agar’s autobiography is both a record of her artistic development and the story of a rebellious woman who had a fresh and compelling artistic vision, taking influence from her friends and contemporaries such as Picasso and the photographers Lee Miller and Man Ray. She became a celebrity of the avant-garde art scene after living in Paris and also had great friendships with Ezra Pound, Evelyn Waugh, Henry Moore, Paul Nash and many others. She achieved overnight success after exhibiting in the first International Surrealist Exhibition in London in 1936. Best known for her dramatic and colourful works in collage, Agar also created paintings and sculpture. This books documents her life and her great contribution to Modern British Art in her own words.
