In 1961, curator and critic Lawrence Alloway, designer Gordon House, and artist William Turnbull came together to create Gazette, a short-lived publication devoted to new and experimental contemporary art. Designed by Gordon House and featuring contributions from leading artists of the time, including Anthony Caro, Bernard Cohen, Richard Smith, and R.B. Kitaj, Gazette captured the pulse of the early 1960s art scene. Contents include: Interview with Anthony Caro by Lawrence Alloway, ‘Togetherness ?’ by Robyn Denny, ‘For the Finest Art try-POP’ by Richard Hamilton, ‘The Tensile Image’ by Peter Stroud. ‘Effects used in Painting’ by Henry Mundy, ‘The Colour Problem’ by John Plumb and more. Condition: both issues creased where previously folded. Some slight spotting to both issues, otherwise very good.
