Glasgow Cathedral: The Stained Glass Windows (2009)

In addition to its other attractions – the architecture, its rich history, the affection in which it is held by Glasgow’s citizens – Glasgow Cathedral contains probably the finest collection of 20th century stained glass, much of it by Scottish artists, to be seen in Scotland, if not, indeed, anywhere! In addition it has examples of medieval glass, not original to the Cathedral, but brought from elsewhere, and some remnants of the Victorian glass with which it was filled in the 19th century.

In the crossing, ‘a chapel of memory’, windows dedicated to the former Scottish Regiments, remembered now only in the bye-names of battalions of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, showing their Regimental badges and Coats of Arms of the depot towns with which they were associated, commemorate this proud chapter of our Scottish heritage. Here, under one roof, can be seen examples of stained glass from its earliest forms to its most recent.

Condition: covers a little shelf worn with some light rubbing to edges and corner tips.  Tope right corner tip of front cover a little creased.
