The collection comprises important essays that span different themes, including Read’s reflections on modern art, critiques of specific art movements, artists and broader philosophical musings on aesthetics and creativity. Inscribed by Read to the former editor and book designer at Thames and Hudson: “For Pat Lowman gratefully, admiringly, Herbert Read”. Condition: yellow dust wrapper toned and spotted to verso. Slight spotting to endpapers, prelims, and edges of text-block, otherwise very good. Pat Lowman was the main book designer and editor at Thames & Hudson. She was friends with Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Oskar Kokoschka and many other major artists of the time.
