Scarce first edition in original John Craxton dust-wrapper. “This is Geoffrey Grigson’s third volume of poems. Several Observations and Under the Cliff showed how precise and coloured was his observation of the natural world. But he is not what is sometimes called a nature poet for he writes of objects, this time of a dolphin stranded on a beach in the Scillies, or a cave in Yorkshire, or a star above a black mountain, both as objects and as images of meaning.” Given the fragile nature of the paper used for the dust-wrapper of the book, this particular example is remarkably well preserved, showing only a few minor tape repairs to the inside of the jacket.
