Bawden’s contribution (apart from the covers and endleaves) consists of several line engravings and 6 colour plates (4 double-page printed verso and recto) which the artist made especially for Motif. The stunning originals were pasted up from linocuts printed in colour, from these, and separations made by the artist, line blocks were made, and printed with specially manufactured inks.
