With a hand-written card from the artist thanking the recipient for their comments Hughes’s exhibition at Tate St Ives in 2000.  Over a decade has passed since Philip Hughes first chanced upon a notebook whose shape and rough, recycled paper provided him with new inspiration for his drawing and painting: ‘I was captivated by the rough texture of the paper, by the book’s shape, indeed by the whole idea of working in a notebook, something I had never done before.’ Many striking images of the beautiful landscapes he has encountered on his travels, from the South Downs in Sussex and the Lubéron in the south of France to Bungle Bungle and Cabbage Tree Creek in Australia, are included here.

Condition: some light creasing to edges of dust-wrapper, otherwise very good.
