This has all the strength of a typical Fedden: expressive in style with strong deep colours, a patterned foreground and a hinted at landscape as background. These are everyday objects: a fruit plate, a pineapple, half a lemon, a ceramic jug, but Fedden emphasises the essential shapes and thereby portrays something more than facsimile. As Fedden expresses it : ‘Each of my paintings is a mixture of things that I’m looking at, and my thoughts and imagination’.
