Catalogue for the sale of the eclectic private collection of dealers Mary and Alan Hobart. The Hobarts’ collection featured major Irish artists including Sir William Orpen, one of their most closely associated painters; Jack Butler Yeats, a central figure in their holdings; and Mary Swanzy, the pioneering Irish modernist whose work they championed, along with pieces by Grace Henry, William Scott, Sean Scully, and Gerard Dillon. They also gathered an important group of British 20th-century works, collecting artists such as Augustus John, Patrick Heron, Christopher Wood, John Tunnard, and others.
