Born in 1925, Robinson studied at Nottingham Art School before entering the Royal College of Art, where she met tutor Edward Bawden, who would become a lifelong friend. Already successful as an illustrator, having established a life among the group of artists living in Great Bardfield (including Edward Bawden, John Aldridge and Michael Rothenstein), Robinson created increasingly ambitious prints at Cage Cottage, her home and studio. Sheila Robinson – Balance, Humanity and Nature is the first publication to explore the life and work of this prolific artist, illustrator and printmaker.
