Edward Wesson was one of the greatest watercolourists of the twentieth century. His work spanned nearly half a century, ranging from the 1930s until his death in 1983 during which period he also taught extensively.
The choice illustrations in this book are truly representative of the broad talents of the artist and include both pure watercolour and pen and wash. None of the pictures included have been published in book form before and represent some of his finest work. During his lifetime Edward Wesson painted widely in many parts of the British Isles as well as abroad and many of his favourite locations are included as examples of his outstanding contribution to contemporary watercolour painting.
Edward Wesson’s fresh approach to watercolour is an inspiration. His lifetime’s work survives as a constant source of encouragement to other painters whilst his stature as one of the great watercolourists is amply demonstrated by the growing number of collectors of his work throughout the world.
