Hockney’s version of A Rake’s Progress takes the narrative of moral decay and transplants it into a contemporary, autobiographical context. His series follows a young man, based on Hockney himself, who travels to America, experiences its consumer culture, and eventually feels alienated. Hockney’s work blends his experiences with themes of self-discovery, American society, and queer identity. Condition: Near fine.
