The second, and last, collection of poetry by the poet printed by the Hogarth Press. With its winter theme, the poems reflect Bell’s personal experiences, including his complex relationships, reflections on society, and pacifist ideals Part of the Bloomsbury Group, Julian was the son of Vanessa Bell and as such within the circle of the most dynamic writers and artists of his time. His career included teaching at Wuhan University in China during the mid-1930s, where he taught English before he went to the Spanish Civil War and was killed in 1937. It includes an inscription by Barbara Biggs, reading: “For John, 1943.” Condition: boards a little spotted and tanned to edges and spine. Some slight spotting to prelims, otherwise very good.
