‘The World’s End, Milkman’ by Rupert Shephard

Many people will recognize the milkfloat from their childhood. (They are scarce now – though a few still ply their trade). But there is direct knowledge in this linocut as Shephard lived in this neighbourhood. And the depiction is intimate: children play on the street; there are prams and cats and bicycles, and of course, the milkman, delivering the daily pint.
