Technology Place and Architecture The Jerusalem Seminar in Architecture (1998)

Richard Rogers gathered in Jerusalem to discuss pressing themes and issues in contemporary architectural practice. Sponsored by the Rothschild Foundation, this three-day symposium grew to a biannual event with over 2,000 participants: at the most recent seminar in 1996 Jean Nouvel, Renzo Piano, Alvaro Siza, and others addressed new technology, critical regionalism, and the effects of globalization. In documenting all three seminars, this generously illustrated volume offers a rare window into the thoughts and strategies of today’s top international architects and urban planners. It includes presentations by 22 architects, with images of their recent work; panel discussions between architects and critics; essays by eminent historians; and biographies of all participants.
