Robert Austin

Robert Austin was a British artist who lived from 1895 to 1973. He was known for his printmaking, particularly his etchings and engravings, and his work spanned a range of subjects including landscapes, portraits, and still lifes.

Austin studied at the Royal College of Art in London in the early 20th century, and later became a professor of engraving there. He was also a member of the Royal Academy of Arts and the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers.

Austin’s prints are characterized by their meticulous attention to detail, delicate lines, and tonal contrasts. He often depicted scenes from everyday life, such as street scenes or rural landscapes, as well as portraits of people from various walks of life. His work was highly regarded during his lifetime and continues to be collected and exhibited today.
