Tony Bevan

Tony Bevan is a British artist known for his large-scale paintings and drawings that often depict intense and expressive portraits. He was born in Bradford, England in 1951 and studied at the Bradford School of Art before completing his postgraduate studies at Goldsmiths College in London.

Bevan’s work is characterized by his use of bold and dramatic lines to create heavily textured, abstracted portraits. He often uses charcoal, oil stick, and paint to create his pieces, and his compositions frequently feature stark contrasts between dark and light areas. Bevan has cited a wide range of influences on his work, including African tribal art, German Expressionism, and the work of artists such as Willem de Kooning and Francis Bacon
