60 Paintings for ’51 (1951) (Gerald Wilde Lithograph Cover)

Catalogue for The Arts Council’s Sixty Paintings for ’51 with an original lithographic cover by Gerald Wilde. The Arts Council invited twelve sculptors and sixty artists to paint a large work, not less than 45 by 60 inches on a subject of their choice. The resultant artworks included:

• Vanessa Bell’s “The Garden Room.”
• Prunella Clough’s “Lowestoft Harbour.”
• L.S. Lowry’s “Industrial Landscape, River Scene.”
• Peter Lanyon’s “Porthleven.”
• William Gear’s “Autumn Landscape.”
• Ivon Hitchens’s  “Aquarian Nativity.”
• Patrick Heron’s “Christmas Eve.”
• John Nash’s “Afon Craseor, North Wales.”
• William Scott’s “Still Life.”
• Victor Pasmore’s “The Snowstorm; Spiral Motif in Black and White
