Ashcombe: The Story of a Fifteen Year Lease

The story of Cecil Beatons time at Ashcombe House, an 18th century manor house, set in the Wiltshire countryside.

Beaton first fell in love with Ashcombe in 1930, and promptly persuaded the owner to grant a lease at a very low rate in return for care and renovation. Transforming the manor house into a unique and elegant country home, Beaton gave so much care and attention that the house became a home and the one place in the world that he hadn’t realised he had been looking for.
