Broadway Tunnel, opened in 1952, served as a speedy through-way for travellers between Chinatown and North Beach to the east, and Russian Hill and Van Ness Avenue to the west. We’ve huge vehicles in primary colours; happy drivers speeding along; and cars impossibly parked on the near vertical San Franciscan streets. And all bathed in perfect Californian sunshine.
