Gascoyne’s fascinating journal covering the years leading up to the Second World War. Two volumes in dust-wrappers designed by Julian Trevelyan. From the library of Ronald Blythe.

Volume one is inscribed by David Gascoyne on the front endpaper: “For Ronald Blythe with gratitude and admiration. Sincerely, David Gascoyne. Colchester, 5.X.81.” Volume two is inscribed by Stephen Stuart-Smith, director of the Enitharmon Press.

Also included is a signed and dated photocopy typescript of Gascoyne’s Sentimental Colloquy, loosely inserted in volume two, together with an additional note in Ronald Blythe’s hand: “Give to me. RB.”

Condition: wrappers of both volumes a littlw shelf-worn with some rubbing and creasing to extremities. Some slight spotting to text block of volume two.
