‘Hoopoes’ by Rupert Shephard

The vibrant colours and strength of pattern characteristic of South Africa: a deep blue in the sky; splashes of burnt orange in the birds; the gold of dried grasslands. And central picture Shephard plays with semi-abstract shapes, all of them typical in some way of South Africa: huge leaves, fallen branches, and waterlilies in the reeds.
