From the library of Colin St John Wilson and with his light pencil annotations throughout.

This book is, in a way, a method of autobiography—although it includes other matters such as a re-examination of the art of Cézanne—but the aim throughout has been to produce something indivisible as in a poem. It is perhaps best described by Mr. Stokes in the preface:—

‘This is not a book about childhood, except for a little of my own. The “working-out” as the title suggests, a certain relation to the external world, provides the subject.’

Condition: very good in fair only dust-wrapper (segments of loss to spine and front panel)
