Oil Paintings in Public Ownership: East Sussex

By far the largest collection in this East Sussex volume is that of Brighton and Hove Museums and Art Galleries with its fine holdings of old masters and early 20th century works. Other important collection include the Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne, Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, and Charleston, the country home of the Bloomsbury Group. A variety of smaller collections in hospitals, universities and other civic buildings are also revealed.
