A reproduction of the first edition originally published by The Golden Cockerel Press in 1926. Published by arrangement with the trustees of the David Jones Estate. Printed by Memminger on corolla book laid ivory paper, and bound in oatmeal coloured cloth by Lachenmaier. Limited to 750 hand-numbered copies, this being number no.647. Presented in a Clamshell box with on-laid illustration and gilt lettering. Accompanied by an essay by Sebastian Carter. ‘The engravings reveal the strong influence of Gill’s style, but already there are elements of Continental modernism on show: the piled-up architectural details of Nineveh have an expressionist flavour’.
