Christopher Richard Wynne Nevinson was a British figure and landscape artist who was one of the most famous war artists of World War One. In 1917 he produced this study of the endless road from the Northern French city Arras to a commune known as Bapaume. Nevinson depicted the road following the aftermath of a bombardment and his use of strong perspective enhances the emptiness and desolation of the scene. This print is colour matched to the original and approved by the Imperial War Museum.
