The Wood Engravings of Eric Ravilious (1972)

Second issue. Number II 96 (of c.500 copies). Tall folio. With 113 leaves displaying over 400 of engravings by Eric Ravilious,  each leaf printed one side only, with fold-out index leaves. Bound in original green cloth, with abstract device blocked in black to the front cover, and spine titled in gilt. The illustrations were printed on Grosvenor Chater’s Basingwerk Parchment paper, at the Curwen Press. A significant collection of the artist’s work and an essential catalogue of Ravilious’ wood engravings, with many pieces reproduced from original blocks or other sources. His engravings were used primarily for book illustrations, often for fine presses like the Golden Cockerel and Curwen Press. Some of the engravings included in this collection were published for the first time. Condition: Green cloth boards faded to front and rear, otherwise fine.
