This is Julian Trevelyan at his best. There is imposition of clear pattern and design in this portrayal: collage-like clouds; the geometric shapes of triangular sails and a round buoy. The buoy itself looks as if fallen from the skies and is reminiscent of the way the sun sinks at dusk amongst the waves. There is also clear movement in this print: the clouds pirouette around the sails; the wind swirls in the sky, and eddies churn the foreground sea.
