Text in French. A substantial monograph examining Bernard Buffet’s lifelong relationship with Brittany. Harambourg traces the Breton subjects that recur throughout his work, from the still lifes and fishing ports of his early career to Breton landscapes, boats, churches and traditional costumes. Particular attention is given to Saint-Cast, where Buffet spent much of his childhood and which became his Breton home and studio from 1965. The book demonstrates how memories of Brittany remained a constant source of imagery throughout more than five decades of his career.
