Byker (1983) (Inscribed by Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen)

In 1970 a gifted Finnish photographer stood on Byker Hill outside Newcastle and surveyed what was to become, for the next eleven years, the subject of an outstanding social and photographic study and more than that, her home. Inscribed by Konttinen to Brian and Maggie Mills – bookshop owners in Newcastle and part of ‘Amber Films; which Byker was produced under: To Brian & Maggie love Sirkka & Amber.
