Edward Ardizzone Little Tim and the Brave Sea Captain Facsimile of the First Edition of 1936 (2011)

Limited edition facsimile of Edward Ardizzone’s scarce 1936 first edition of Little Tim and the Brave Sea Captain, reproduced directly from the original artwork in at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Issued in a boxed edition of 1,000 numbered copies, accompanied by a bilingual Japanese/English commentary volume. This copy is numbered 113.

Unlike all subsequent editions, it restores the four illustrations omitted from the published 1936 edition. It also reproduces Ardizzone’s original artwork, annotations and layout, making it the first complete facsimile of this important picture book. 36.6 × 27 cm.

Condition: Publisher’s blue box lightly marked and shelf-worn, with a split to one corner of the inner tray, otherwsie fine.
