From the Library of Stephen Spender, this originally belonged to the German Jewish poet Moriz Seeler and is signed by him.

The book contains an original of Spender’s bookplate designed by John Craxton. This was designed by Craxton as a belated joint wedding present to Stephen and Natasha Spender. “He drew a mournful portrait of himself, pen still in hand as he rested on a stone stump in what seemed to be a verdant churchyard”.
