Describing Picasso’s Vollard Suite, The Times wrote: “It is a majestic sequence combining a restless formal inventiveness within the limits of a completely open ‘classical’ line with an exploration into. .. the ceaseless shift of tensions between maturity and youth, male and female, mental power and physical beauty.”” These 100 superb etchings made by Picasso between 1930 and 1937 were commissioned by the great art critic and dealer Vollard, from whom the series takes its name. Each one of the 100 plates is faultlessly reproduced on one side only of each page, so that the etchings can, if desired, be removed from the book and framed singly. Condition: Slight spotting to inside of dust-wrapper, front paste-down, and top edge of text block. A few light marks to fore-edge of text block. Light dust-marks to wrapper, otherwise very good.
