Photographic documentation of the Sadler’s Wells Ballet’s 1939 production of Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty,” directed by Nicolas Sergeyev and starring Margot Fonteyn and Robert Helpmann. Foreword by Gordon Anthony. ‘Tchaikovsky and the Ballet’ by Constance Lambert’. ‘Decor and Costumes’ by Nadia Benois. ‘Aurora Truly Wedded’ by Arnold L Haskell. With 4 bookplates pasted onto front endpaper, three of which are probably from book tokens and represent John Armstrong’s Can Spring be Far Behind. Condition: good dust-wrapper only, with some stains, heavy creasing and large segments of loss. Light wear to boards and some soiling to bottom edge of front panel. Spotting to endpapers and pastedowns, otherwise very good.
