Oblong. 28cm x 28.5cm. First edition. A landmark of early 20th-century British illustration. Produced at the height of Nicholson’s creative partnership with his publisher William Heinemann. Features twelve bold colour lithographs by Nicholson, each accompanied by rhymes by Arthur Waugh. Publisher’s quarter cloth with pictorial paper covered boards. Condition: Front board a little marked with rubbing and surface abrasion at fore-edge and to upper right corner. Some plate shadowing (as typical with this edition). Back board a little rubbed to edges with surface abrasion to top left corner.
