Published in 1928, When the Cook is away  was intended to enable people to ‘cook without damage to the hands, complexion, temper or purse’.  Housed in scarce original dust-jacket designed by Cecil Beaton.  No highlighting, underlining or inscriptions.  Binding strong.   Rear panel of dust-wrapper a little age toned.  Large segment of loss to lower half of dust-wrapper’s spine (see photo).  Green cloth boards a little worn with some sunning to spine.  Light foxing to prelims.  Toning to margin of half-title page and some to rear end-paper.
