“Based on Osbert Sitwell’s travels in southern Italy in the winter of 1929-30.

Ravilious’s wood-engraved decoration for the half-title page of the book was his only collaboration with the Sitwells.

The architectural setting is based on the Scena Tragica, a set design from the Second Book of Architecture by Sebastiano Serlio

Original red cloth, backstrip lettered in gilt. Ravilious dust-jacket with gently faded backstrip panel and a small amount of chipping to extremeties. A very good copy.
