Two volumes (Vol.1 Looking Glass and Vol.2 Pier Glass). Publisher’s cloth, gilt lettered spines. Each volume in the original dust-wrapper with a design from a sketch of the author by Willam Nicholson. Steen’s expansive and vivid memoirs, charting her life from early struggles through her emergence as a leading novelist, biographer. Highlights her theatrical beginnings, travels, friendships within artistic circles, and importantly her long partnership with William Nicholson. Condition: Volume 1: dust-wrapper price-clipped with some fading and spotting, plus small patch of sticker residue to front flap. Slight spotting to endpapers and pastedowns, otherwise very good. Volume 2: dust-wrapper price-clipped and slightly worn to edges with a small patch of sticker residue to front flap and a 2inch tape repair to rear panel, otherwise very good.
