Volume 1 Sculpture and Drawings 1921–48
Edited by David Sylvester
With an introduction by Sir Herbert Read

The volume dealing with Henry Moore’s sculpture from 1921 was first published in 1944. It reached a more definitive stage in the enlarged and revised third edition published in 1949, and this in turn was superseded by the fourth completely revised edition of 1957 which was reprinted in 1968. Both text and illustrations were radically revised for this fourth edition, with the principal addition of a catalogue of the sculptures of the period, and a concordance to relate illustration numbers in earlier editions to the revised sequence now in use. Only Sir Herbert Read’s introductory essay (dated 1944, 1948) remains unchanged. The volume contains 400 illustrations of sculptures and drawings.
